The Friends of Killbear Park are undertaking a new project to provide accessibility access to Twin Points.

There has already been some excellent work done by the park where the trail from the parking lot to the existing boardwalk has been widened and smoothed out for easier access to the existing boardwalk.

Our project is to expand on that work by replacing the existing boardwalk (60 metres) with a composite material and with a width that would allow two wheelchairs to bypass each other.

The boardwalk will take you up to an accessible viewing platform on the first point of the Twin Points trail.

We are raising $160,000 to cover the cost of replacing the current boardwalk and adding a wheelchair ramp and viewing platform. We have currently raised $37,000.

Our goal is to be ready to begin construction in September 2021(this will be delayed further, due to the Pandemic). A donation of any amount is gratefully accepted. If you make your donation of any dollar amount at the Nature Shoppe your name or message will be posted on the wall in Carol’s Place. The Nature Shoppe is open during regular hours 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May to October. Or, if you wish to make a donation online you can make your donation here.

We also have 3 levels of donations where your name will be placed on a plaque mounted on stone at the entrance to the trail. A minimum donation of $250 is required for an individual or family, minimum of $1,000 for a business. We have 3 levels of donations:

Bronze: $ 250 to $1,499
Silver: $1,500 to $2,999
Gold: over $3,000
