Capture the heart of camping, playing, and enjoying nature at Killbear! Send in your best images of your time at Killbear - some possibilities include healthy activities like biking, hiking, swimming, sailing, or exploring nature with kids; relaxing on the beach; inspiring nature scenes; and restorative landscapes. Photos will be judged for composition, lighting and overall interest.

Eligibility:

The Ontario Parks photo contest is open to any amateur photographer who visits an Ontario provincial park, except employees of Ontario Parks’, Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks sponsors and/or their immediate family members.

Only the photographer has the right to submit a photograph, and the photographer must sign each entry form and a photographer agreement release. Prizes will be awarded to the photographers.

Contest Rules:

  1. Either colour or black and white images are acceptable, but computer manipulation of photos is not allowed.

  2. Entries become the property of Killbear Provincial Park. Ontario Parks reserves the right to use any entries for marketing purposes in future programs, publications or displays.

Image size, resolution, and labeling requirements:

  • Send images that are a minimum of 2.5MB to a maximum of 8MB.

  • Label each image “yourfullname_year_description.jpg”. For example “JoanSmith_2020_scenic.jpg”.

Photo and model release forms:

  • Photographers need to sign a Photo Release Form.

  • Images of people need to have a Model Release Form signed for everyone that can be recognized.

  • Both forms can be found here.

  • Scanned copies of these release forms must be attached to the email with images.

Submitting images:

  • Email submissions to killbearphotocontest@gmail.com.

  • Only three (3) entries per person. Include in your email subject line the following: Your Name, City.

Hints

Do not submit photos of illegal activities such as feeding chipmunks or disturbing habitat (making inukshuks or rock sculptures).

Judging

A qualified panel of sponsor’s judges will judge eligible entries. All decisions of the contest judges are final.

By signing the entry form, the participant consents to the entry of his or her submission and agrees to these official rules and regulations and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all matters to this contest.
